The Recipe Box
This recipe is as easy as it gets. Preheat oven to 350°F and wash your hands — you're gonna get messy.
Pick your fruit first and get it ready. If it's apples, peel, core and chop (Kelly cheats — she's got an old school cast iron peeler-corer-slicer). No matter how you manage whatever fruit you choose, you'll need 4 cups.
Put the butter, rolled oats, brown sugar and multigrain flour all in a bowl and mash it up by hand, squeezing the mixture through your fingers until it's all uniform.
Grab a handful and mix it in with the fruit in a suitably sized baking pan. Still using your hands, crumble the remaining mixture over top of the fruit, pat down VERY LIGHTLY and toss in the oven for 30–35 minutes. Keep an eye on it — you'll know when it's ready.
Works well with:
Apples, Blueberries, Peaches, Raspberries, Strawberries, Blackberries — and any combination of your favourite fruits.
Add a dash of:
Cinnamon if you want. Ice cream is a must — but don't bake the ice cream. Put it on after you bake the crumble.
